number 9!

Entering state number 9 - rolling into Connecticut on day 101. Can't believe I've been hiking that long - and have only taken 8 days off. And this is a choice. Been getting up early to beat the heat everyday - makes for a long day - but easier on the body. Sitting at the Library in Kent, Conn. Have just covered 1,451 miles! Should hit the 1,500 mile mark in a few days - and will be under 700 to go. I know that still sounds funny - 700 miles to go - but considering what we've been through - it feels good to say it. Looking forward to better views here in the New England states - as we go back up to 4,000-6,000 feet all day. Taking a zero in 6 days - so will check in then. Still averaging about 20 miles a day - but will probably be slowing down a bit soon due to topo.

I just spent the last hour reading your posts and blogs and pics, what an amazing journey you are on!! Definitely more emotional and mental for sure, but that heat you are batteling sounds awful.I am so impressed with your progress and am sending you encouragement for you last 700 miles!! You can do it!
We Troutners are all good here, finally had that baby and he was a ridiculous 12 pounds, but that's nothing, you are walking a million miles! We all send you our thoughts and well wishes and will be checking in again to see how you are doing! Damn you are skinny!

Kevin,

Your blog has been so interesting to read and keep up with your trip. You are so close...got to be feeling great. My family and I went to Colorado for vacation and did some very mild hiking...made me appreciate what over 20 miles per day must be like! Keep it up...enjoy what you are seeing along the way.
