Passed over the actual 2008 half way point today!!!! To fully be a thru hiker - you have to stop at the Pine Grove Furnace State Park and attempt the Half Gallon Challenge. $5.50 gets your choice of half gallon of ice cream - and all you have to do is eat it - any amount of time is fine. Current record is a little over 4 mins, and the record for a full gallon is 33 mins. I went with Peanut Butter Twirl - a flavor I am well accustomed to.
