Well - here it is - what I will be following for the next 6 months - the white blaze - a 6" by 2" white stripe of paint on trees or boulders. Rainy day on the way up to Springer Mountain. Met my first "trail angel" - previous AT thur hikers that help. Trail name - Mountain Squid, takes vacation every year and stands at Springer to help new thru hikers get started right. He rocks! He watched all of our packs - so we could climb Springer Mountain lighter. I am skipping the blue blaze 9 mile approach trail. Started at the parking lot of Springer - so go backwards - up the mountain - and then backtrack to where we started.
